Worked out with Hector for one hour today. Abs and Legs. I was still a little sore from Saturday. Streatching was definately my favorite part!

I hate the 5:00 time slot now that I don't have after school stuff. Hopefully, we can bump that up soon.

Crazy Legs!

Today was the 8K--1:03:54!!

It totally would have been under an hour if I didn't have to wait for the guy in the port-a-potty. That seriously tacked on 5 minutes. I had to do some walkin' but I ran the entire first mile--hills, athsma, and all.

This is the farthest distance I've ever run!

I'm such a big, fat, bloated. lazy turd. I haven't run all week. This 8K is going to kick my ass.

I decided that I had a choice this evening. I could go to the gym and run for an hour or I could go to the park and play volleyball for 2 hours.

I played volleyball for two hours. Saturday is gonna suck!

Ran my first 5K ever!

I'm such a slow slug... 39:14. I didn't come in last...oh yeah 344 out of 397. How Barb acutally placed behind me witht he same time I'll never know. I guess that's just home city advantage!!

But it was a beautiful day--and next time, I'll do better!

I totally missed my session with Hector...then I didn't have my iPod to be focused to do cardio. And, to top it off, some chick was next to me on her cell phone blathering on about "white boy" and hooking up later--UGH!!

Any who, I did the 1/2 hour ab-blaster work out and gave up after the cell phone incident.

Today I didn't make it to the gym. Donyielle, Wynter and I went to this new nail place that just opened near our school and got manicures and pedicures (see other blog for details). I only made it home in time to make dinner, eat and change before I ran out the door to play volleyball.

So... today's workout:

I had planned on doing an interval workout again today…but I was sore…so I decided that I needed to give my body a rest, and do long and slow to break up that lactic acid.

Workout:

Precor for an hour, with high resistance (starting at 12 moving up to 17 by the 30 minute mark) 5.1 miles—650 calories

Today I did something incredibly stupid. I signed up for 2 new events in the next 3 weeks. A the Wrigley Start Early 5K, proceeds going to help prevent child abuse, and at Barb’s suggestion the Crazy Legs 8K in Madison on the 28th. Fortunately, Barb’s a real runner and is going to run them both with me.

As a result, I’ve found my true motivation—FEAR.

It’s the fear of not finishing a race. I went to the gym immediately!! It was super late for me and insanely crowded. I’ve never had to wait for a treadmill before. I'm never going that late again!

Workout:

½ hour interval work out alternating 90 seconds of running at 6 mph and walking 90 seconds at 4 mph, with a 5 minute cool down.

300 calories burned.

Worked out with Hector for an hour today. We did core/abs and legs--my hams are super tight!

I have to make sure I make it to the gym tomorrow so that I'm not sore for the week. I hate when lactic acid kicks my ass!

On a nother note, I noticed that I'm more apt to get my butt to the gym when I have an event in the near future. I need to sign up for some 5Ks so that I'm more motivated to train! I'm sure there's a bunch if I do a search for the area. Hey, whatever get's me working out!
